I wanted to quit X, but I didn't want to lose the connection.

I hated how the app sucked me in. The algorithm, the notifications, the constant demand for my attention—it felt like I was losing my time to a machine.

But I realized something: I actually like the people I follow. I want to see their posts. I just don't want to scroll for hours to find them.

A non-invasive, once-a-day summary is plenty for me. It allows me to take back my time and reduce my screen time, while still keeping up with the minds I admire.

Hi, I'm Pete.

Pete on his porch

I'm a software engineer, a father, and a community organizer living in the green hills of Vermont.

I live in an old farmhouse with my family and a dog who thinks he's a person. When I'm not writing code, I'm usually stacking wood for the winter, organizing local town halls, or trying to explain to my kids why we can't adopt a moose.

I built X Digest because I believe the internet should be a library, not a casino. I want to check out the books I like, not get glued to the slot machines.
